In this episode, I share my journey and thoughts on resting/relaxing over the years, where it comes from & the mistakes you might be making when you try to relax.

My journey with relaxing

  • When I was a kid, I relaxed a lot and didn’t know life otherwise
  • And this only got worse during uni because I was a full time student with a part time job & it was quite hard to juggle those responsibilities because they were ALL URGENT
  • And don’t even talk about work… this was when I didn’t even really have time to spare at all

Where does it come from?

  • Parents’ fears- for example, fear of you losing your job if you aren’t productive enough or aren’t a “good” employee
  • People pleasing- making sure that others are happy with you
  • Putting others first- you don’t want to inconvenience others

Mistakes you might be making when relaxing

  • Going on technology
  • Not taking breaks throughout the day
  • Thinking “I can’t rest until…”
  • Overplanning

Remember, you’re a human BEING, not a human DOING.
